What size AIRCAP 1™ fits your MAAX Spas hot tub?
MAAX Spas — sold under both the MAAX and Kandu Spas names — numbers its models rather than naming them, and the numbers group neatly by cabinet size. The 460 and 461 are the most compact at 78 inches square. The 171, 270 and 271 measure 83 inches, the 470, 471 and 472 measure 87 inches, and the 280, 281, 282, 480, 481 and 881 are the largest at 91.5 to 92 inches.
Here is how the 14 MAAX Spas models in our fitter map to AIRCAP 1™ sizes:
- The Model 460 and Model 461 each take the AIRCAP 1™ XX-Small, which fits square spas 77–79".
- The Model 171, Model 270 and Model 271 each take the AIRCAP 1™ Small, which fits square spas 83–85".
- The Model 470, Model 471 and Model 472 each take the AIRCAP 1™ Medium, which fits square spas 86–88".
- The Model 280, Model 281, Model 282, Model 480, Model 481 and Model 881 each take the AIRCAP 1™ X-Large, which fits square spas 92–94".
Every AIRCAP 1™ ships with the Ziptech™ modular skirt system, so you can zip on the right skirt depth for your cabinet instead of ordering a custom cover.
A note on the 480 and 481: both measure 91.5 inches, which falls half an inch below the X-Large range and half an inch above the Large. Round up. An X-Large overhangs by a fraction, which is how a cover is meant to sit; a Large would come up short and never seal properly along two edges.
Not seeing your model? The MAAX 100, 160 and 261 are smaller than 77 inches, and the 151, 250, 451, 890 and 982 are rectangular — all outside the AIRCAP 1™ range, which is built for square cabinets from 77 to 94 inches.
One caution: American Whirlpool redesigned the Model 460 and 461 for 2026 — the newest shells are rectangular (82" x 69.5") and no square AIRCAP 1™ fits them. The 2018–2025 models measure 78" square and take the XX-Small as shown.
